Know about the use of “Time” while writing in English –
In the construction of sentences mentioned in all the Perfect Continuous tenses of charts of different Tenses, there is a reference to time.

For example – Present Perfect Continuous – They have been playing cricket for an hour (time).
Note: Here the use of the preposition depends on the type of “Time”. When the “Time” indicates a point or a specific time it will be categorized as “point of time”. Such as the mention of a year, a specific time in the clock, a date or a day. But when it indicates a duration or span of time such as a couple of hours or days, weeks etc. it will be categorized as “period of time”.
