The verb that indicates a time that is yet to come or approaching in a time to come after the present is called The “Future Tense”.
A simple chart of examples in the different types of “Future Tense” has been furnished below to make the learners get familiar with the future tense of the verbs in different persons and numbers.
|Person / Number||Simple future/indefinite||future continuous||future perfect||future Perfect continuous|
|1st person||singular||I shall do the work||I shall be doing the work||I shall have done the work||I shall have been doing the work for an hour|
|plural||We shall do the work||We shall be doing the work||We shall have done the work||We shall have been doing the work for an hour|
|2nd person||singular||You will do the work||You will be doing the work||You will have done the work||You will have been doing the work for an hour|
|plural||You will do the work||You will be doing the work||You will have done the work||You will have been doing the work for an hour|
|3rd person||singular||He/she/Rita/it will do the work||He/she/Rita/it will be doing the work||He/she/Rita/it will have done the work||He/she/Rita/it will have been doing the work for an hour|
|plural||They will do the work||They will be doing the work||They will have done the work||They will have been doing the work for an hour|
|Syntax||Sub + shall/will + V + Obj||Sub + shall/will + be V-ing + Obj||Sub + shall/will + have + V3 + Obj||Sub + shall/will + have + been + V-ing + Obj + time|
*** Note: In the given chart above the learners may notice that unlike the previous chart for the “Past Tense” here “the work” remains the same in both “singular” and “plural” rows. The goal is to make the learners familiar with different conditions of “Objects“. They should keep in mind that a single work can be performed by either a single person “singular” or a group of persons “plural”.
*** Note: “V”= verb, “V3″=past participle form of the verb, “Sub”=subject, “Obj”= object.
