The future is to come

The future is to come

The verb that indicates a time that is yet to come or approaching in a time to come after the present is called The “Future Tense”.

A simple chart of examples in the different types of “Future Tense” has been furnished below to make the learners get familiar with the future tense of the verbs in different persons and numbers.

Person / NumberSimple future/indefinitefuture continuousfuture perfectfuture Perfect continuous
1st personsingularI shall do the workI shall be doing the workI shall have done the workI shall have been doing the work for an hour
pluralWe shall do the workWe shall be doing the workWe shall have done the workWe shall have been doing the work for an hour
2nd personsingularYou will do the workYou will be doing the workYou will have done the workYou will have been doing the work for an hour

pluralThey will do the workThey will be doing the workThey will have done the workThey will have been doing the work for an hour
SyntaxSub + shall/will + V + ObjSub + shall/will + be V-ing + ObjSub + shall/will + have + V3 + ObjSub + shall/will + have + been + V-ing + Obj + time

*** Note: In the given chart above the learners may notice that unlike the previous chart for the “Past Tense” here “the work” remains the same in both “singular” and “plural” rows. The goal is to make the learners familiar with different conditions of “Objects“. They should keep in mind that a single work can be performed by either a single person “singular” or a group of persons “plural”.

*** Note: “V”= verb, “V3″=past  participle form of the verb, “Sub”=subject, “Obj”= object.
